My dear brothers and sisters, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you read this gospel reading? for me, our protestant counterparts come into mind when reading this passage. if our Lord walked among us today he would repeat what he had done in the reading, for they have turned the house of God into a business that profits none but themselves. Thinking again, does worshipping our creator have a price of 10% our income? Is preaching the good news a job to put bread on the table? what little faith you have! do you not know God provides for his people? also thinking...Why do we worship? Why do we share the word amongst ourselves? are we like the protestants who go to their buildings of lust to "worship" for the sake of it or are we those who go to church and worship because we want to give thanks to the Lord for creating us,sacrificing himself for our sins and taking care of us so tenderly? My brothers and sisters i implore you if you have this mindset of going to church for the sake of going, go no longer until you can set your minds of going to mass for the sole purpose of celebrating the Eucharist with your whole, undivided heart. for the purpose of going to church is no longer there if you do not go to a place of worship to worship. God bless.

The Bass In Our Lives

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I just thought of sharing a little something i had in mind which i thought you al might like to hear about. As i was on board the bus to school this morning i was listening to a song with parts that focused on the guitar only and i thought to my self: how empty it sounded, although the guitar solos were amazing, the feeling of something missing was there. And i suddenly thought, how blessed are we Catholics, for the Lord is like bass. without him, no matter how perfect we are or may seem we are never complete. Without the Lord in our lives we will be like bass-less music. Also i sometimes cant hear the bass in some songs unless i make n effort to really hear it, but without thinking, i know its there as i can hear its powerful sound but i cant really hear the notes clearly. Also thinking on this, we as Catholics experience the Lord daily as we know he is by our side in what ever we do, but do we even make an effort to hear what he is trying to tell us? Before we commit a sin do we make an effort to hear him in our hearts telling us not to do it? i recall many times where before i sin, i can hear the Lord telling me not to sin but i carry on with the sin as though i have not heard the Lord speaking to me. And after my sin i think and i feel a sharp tinge of guilt, as though i have been shocked with it. Brothers and Sisters i implore you to make an effort to hear the Lord's opinion on what you are about to do and do what is right. Do not be like me doing things on impulse and then regretting later. May the Good Lord bless you in all the right you do and have a nice day.

- $5.00 in the collection basket is the epitome of generosity. Anything more than that, someone has hit the lottery.

- A missal is a book, not a weapon. However, it has been known to pull double duty.

- The signs we make aren't just a mark of respect, they're a lot of fun to do.

- We really like statues. A lot.

- After every confession, everyone hits themselves on the head. This is because they have realized that they forgot that really big sin, and they know that it'll hang over their head til the next time.

- Contraceptives? Why?

First up for those who were NOT listening to Mr Chua's breifing, we have SDYD coming up 22nd Aug A.K.A this coming sat. Remember NOT to play him out or you will suffer the consenquences. Facils to meet in church at 10am and those willing participants meet at 3pm and Ushers i think will be contacted by Erika. Do remember to take a super super heavy lunch cos we are kinda tight on budget and time so no dinner. there will NOT be any food or water there except a measly bun and a tiny bottle of water. Also we are running the YM mass on 11/9 so if you didnt turn up for todays session and you wanna help out do contact clem or john. We have Choir, Readers, Worship and Animation. Step right up and make your pick. Also we must pray that we do not get Jihaded on 11/9 ok?

A Little Smth To Read

I dont know if you have received this story in your mail but i decided to share it anyway.

A youth had been to Sunday Morning Mass.
Father had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice
The Youth couldn't help but wonder, 'Does God still speak to people?'
After Mass, he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they discussed the message.
Several different ones talked about how God had led them in different ways.
It was about ten o'clock when the youth started
driving home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, 'God...If you still speak to people, speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey.'
As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk.
He shook his head and said out loud, 'God is that you?' He didn't get a reply and started on toward home.
But again, the thought, buy a gallon of milk.
The young man thought about Samuel and how he didn't recognize the voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli.
'Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk.' It didn't seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the milk. He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward home.
As he passed Geylang Serai, he again felt the urge, 'Turn Down that street.'
This is crazy he thought, and drove on past the intersection.
Again, he felt that he should turn down Geylang Serai.
At the next intersection, he turned back and headed down Geylang Serai.
Half jokingly, he said out loud,
'Okay, God, I will.'
He drove several Kampongs, when suddenly, he felt like he should stop He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in a semi- commercial area of town. It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst of neighborhoods either.
The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the people were already in bed.
Again, he sensed something, 'Go and give the milk to the people in the house across the street.' The youth looked at the house. It was dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they were already asleep. He started to open the door and then sat back in the car seat.
'Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake them up, they are going
to be mad and I will look stupid.' Again, he felt like he should go and give the milk.
Finally, he opened the door, 'Okay God, if this is you, I will go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient.. I guess that will count for some thing, but if they don't answer right away, I am out of here.'
He walked across the street and rang the bell. He could hear some noise inside. A man's voice yelled
out, 'Who is it? What do you want?' Then the door opened before the young man could get away.
The man was standing there in his jeans and T-shirt. He looked like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he didn't seem too happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep. 'What lah?'
The young man thrust out the gallon of milk, 'Here, I brought this to you.' The man took the milk and rushed down a hallway.
Then from down the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward the kitchen. The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was crying. The man had tears streaming down his face..
The man began speaking and half crying, 'We were just praying. We had
some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn't have any milk for our baby. I was just praying and asking God to show me how to get some milk.'
His wife in the kitchen yelled out, 'I ask him to send an Angel with some. Are you an Angel?'
The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the money he had on him and put in the man's hand. He turned and walked back toward his car and the tears were streaming down his face.
He knew that God still answers prayers.

And lets not forget to make Brother's 6 month long journey with us a enjoyable one ok? And another reminder 13 days left until SDYD those who have summited thier names to clem better make yourself free on 22nd Aug if not you will be in hot clement-flavoured soup. Dont later come up with come nonsense like oh i need to study, oh i need to go shopping etc etc.. if exams are near, all the more you must seek help from the Good Lord. if you need to go shopping, slap yourself in the face and tell yourself no, for isnt the Lord more important then useless, pointless meaningless shopping? And 18 days later is YM mass. Also must make yourself free on that day. YM mass is a once in 3 months thingy if you miss this one you must wait 3 months to attend another one, also isnt it great that we do not have to fight with the kiasu aunties for seats? So go to YM mass for a mass that you can sit in.

Ask - Where do I need to repent most in my life?

Seek - Be aware of my feelings and invite the Holy spirit into those feelings

Knock - Take a scripture that applies to what I am going through

Surrender - Bring the feelings to God & place all my issues to God.

Transform - make a daily awareness of conscience and awareness of examine. Pray for others who have similar issues as myself.

Hey everyone, there's an Acts II outing this Sunday @ Maplewoods Park @ 10am, pls wear shorts (not TOO SHORT), and maybe a cap or shades :D There will be games and prizes to be won! After that we'll be having lunch at some chicken rice stall nearby which is quite nice.
Oh and sorry for the delay of the camp pics and stuff, will be up asap.

reminders for the Blood Donation Drive

Hey everyone! The Blood Donation Drive is next week, 24th February '08. We'll be meeting on Saturday, 23th February at 2.30pm to set up the church hall, which will be in use for the Blood Donation Drive the next day. We will be attending sunset mass as a community too after the setting up, so please bring along your Mass attire! Oh yeah, our duty on Sunday for the Blood Donation Drive is from 8.00am to 1pm. Lunch will be cooked by the canteen aunties!

Blood Donation Drive

Task on 23th Feb: To get the volunteer tags ready, about 40, (Nicholas Lim) and set up the hall for 24th Feb.

Time line for 24th Feb: our duty is from 8.30am to 1.30pm. (We'll need as many manpower as possible!!!) However, do arrrive at 8.00am for a briefing from Clement and a tour around the booths to understand the procedures of blood donation.

Note: we'll be attending evening mass on the 23th Feb as a community.

Botanical Garden's outing on 20-1-08

This is our first outdoor session for the year! At first, it looked like it was gonna rain, but with God's grace, the weather was awesome, but also a little warm haha... Well, it started off with us meeting in chuch, and then off we went! We had breakfast made specially by Cassandra, so, " Thank you Cassandra! ". Son, we reached botanical gardens and the photo snapping soon followed. The session there was awesome, though it was a little warm. The scenery was fabulous too, its been a very long time since we had a session outdoors and finally we could be so close to nature, God's beautiful creation. On the whole, it was great and we're looking forward to more outdoor sessions!
